Complimentary Therapist
Background & Experience:
I am a Complementary Therapist and have been practising for over 25 years in a range of different therapies such as Aromatherapy, Swedish Body Massage, Indian Head Massage, Reiki, Reflexology ad a number of other therapies. My qualifications are generally ITEC or VTCT which is now part of ITEC and i have also been teaching these subjects for 25 years too either as introductory courses or certified courses to train new therapists. Prior to having the calling to become a Therapist I worked as an Internal Auditor in a Japanese bank in the City of London. Quite a contrast you might say! I have also run a successful therapy business for the same amount of time starting in Hertfordshire and then moving it and starting again in Northamptonshire. I also teach First Aid and Paediatric First Aid and have been doing so in different capacities again for a number of years.
Key Expertise:
For the NNC I specialise in teaching introductory courses in Aromatherapy, Swedish Body Massage, Indian Head Massage, Reflexology, Thai Foot Massage, Japanese Face Massage and Seated Massage.
Teaching Philosophy:
I like to think that I have a relaxed teaching style so that the courses maximise the Learners potential to learn but at the same time ensure that high standards of hygiene and client care are also incorporated into the sessions. I like to ensure that the contents of the courses are as full as possible for the time allocated so that Learners can go away and use the techniques on family and friends safely but at the same time the Learners have had a positive and enjoyable experience. My passion is natural health so if I can spread the ability to improve health naturally then that gives me a warm fuzzy feeling! I also apply these principles to the First Aid training I deliver and have had feedback from Learners in the past where they have used the techniques they have learned to save lives.
Additional information:
As a completely different aspect to myself I was a member of the Army Reserves for 37 years and rose to the rank of Warrant Officer Class II. I was fortunate enough to be involved in Special Communications which meant that we travelled around the world doing our job.
I studied French and Russian to A level at school and worked for a Russian company for a period of time and visited Russia in 1976.
I have also travelled extensively personally and more recently visited Antartica and Japan. I specifically enjoy learning about different histories and cultures.
I am a member of the Royal British Legion and am the Treasurer of the RBL Rushden branch at present and my hobbies are Ceroc (French jive), golf, when I get time and my three cats!
