Background & Experience:
My professional career started in commerce; however, I have always had a passion for education and have nearly 30 years’ experience teaching school children and adults both abroad and in England. I am married and have two adult children.
Key Expertise:
I was born in Chile, where I studied English at the University of Santiago de Chile and the Chilean-British University of Santiago while also pursuing studies and work in commerce. After moving to England, I read for and obtained a BA Honours Degree at The University of London in Spanish and Literature. In 2002 I joined Adult Learning and as part of the PGCE taught Spanish at a local secondary community school in Northamptonshire.
Teaching Philosophy:
I find teaching mature students especially rewarding and tailor my pace to their abilities and interests to help them achieve their goals. In my lessons, I use both structured and informal approaches, including games and quizzes, as well as visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic activities to develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
Additional information:
As for other interests, I love music and am an irregular classic guitar player, currently attempting to pass Grade 5. I am also an avid reader and enjoy foreign languages. French is my third language, and I am learning German in my spare time. Attending local village art classes to improve painting skills balances activities. I have written religious icons in the past. (One writes icons, not paints them, I heard from an expert French icon writer!) Oh, yes, another passion is cooking! I love to try new recipes and to cook for my family and friends.
