ESOL
Background & Experience:
I have been a teacher for 12 years and have taught in college, community, prison and workplace settings. I have taught ESOL for most of my career and have also taught English and Employability. I have worked as a tutor on a one to one basis and have taught both large and small groups of learners. I have worked as a part-time ESOL examiner.
Key Expertise:
I specialise in ESOL. This is the area I have the most experience in. I am particularly experienced in teaching and assessing entry level ESOL.
Teaching Philosophy:
My lessons are very structured as I find this helps learners to access the language and information they need to complete tasks, build confidence and develop their skills. I try to motivate students by taking a patient and calm approach to teaching and making students aware that their contributions are always worthwhile and valued.
Additional information:
I enjoy teaching people to develop the skills they need to engage in daily life in the UK or function in the workplace. I am trying to learn Italian, so understand how difficult learning a language as an adult can be.
