Cookery Tutor
Background & Experience:
I was brought up in an extended family so opportunity to be head chef was not the priority. I regard myself as a self-taught cook as when I follow a recipe I look at how to achieve the taste and how it can be adapted to achieve individuals taste.
My career in teaching cookery courses began in 2002 when I joined Northampton County Counsel. Now I have my own business “Bespiced by Rashmita” offering bespoke cooking experiences, (supper club, pub takeovers, cooperate events, hen do’s etc.
Coming from a large family of cooks where it was all done for me I began to think how I could do the task so that it can be easily be understood when passing on the information to someone giving them a lifelong skill.
Key Expertise:
I am passionate about cooking and passing on lifelong skills to others.
Good communication skill offering instruction where needed.
Create a friendly and welcoming environment allowing learners the freedom to create their own bespoke dishes with my guidance.
“Cooking should be a joy not a chore” having this in mind you will not fail to produce amazing dishes.
Teaching Philosophy:
All my workshops are hand-on with me at hand to give support when needed. This allows the learners to create their own bespoke dishes learning about the processes they have followed rather than just following a recipe. (Recipe becomes a recipe mix as it can be adapted to suit how you use it).
I aim to make learners feel welcomed so people feel comfortable to ask questions and join in which helps learning.
I like to offer interactive sessions and aim to include a variety of activities that are interesting and engaging.
I aim to motivate students by teaching skills that are applicable and useful in daily life so that people feel like they have a new skill or approach to try that is relevant and relatable to their own life.
I support learners by being flexible about my teaching approach and can usually find an alternative ways to teach to suit learners needs.
