Background & Experience:  

I am a qualified educator and professional photographer with a Master’s degree in Photographic Communication Design, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and over six years of commercial industry experience. As the founder of Welly Pictures, I actively produce high-end commercial property, corporate headshot, and personal branding imagery across the UK. My background seamlessly spans professional studio production, classroom instruction, and academic curriculum design. I bring advanced technical expertise in studio and natural lighting manipulation, darkroom techniques, and professional post-production software, including Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

1. Hands-On & Practical Learning: I bypass dense theory in favour of active, experiential learning. Because I run an active photography business, my lessons are deeply rooted in current industry standards, ensuring students gain practical skills they can use straight away.

3. Positive & Constructive Feedback: I provide clear, actionable feedback with a consistently positive approach. I focus on celebrating what students do well while offering concrete, encouraging guidance on how to refine their techniques and reach their individual goals. 

Additional information:

What truly drives my teaching is helping adult learners unlock their creative potential and see immediate progress. Photography can sometimes feel intimidating with all its technical settings, but I love watching that "lightbulb moment" when a student masters a manual setting or captures a shot exactly how they envisioned it.

In my spare time, I stay active and creative through yoga, paddle boarding, swimming, and, of course, taking pictures. My passion for connecting people through the lens led me to form a dedicated photography community. This community is open to all adult learners as a welcoming space to share images, join exciting photo events, and openly discuss our shared passion for photography. Having balanced running Welly Pictures with teaching for years, I fully understand the demands of a busy lifestyle. Because of this, I make sure my classroom and my community, is an enjoyable, creative escape where you can connect with like-minded people and comfortably learn at your own pace.
